Huntley library receives $45,000 tech grant
HUNTLEY – The Huntley Area Public Library recently was given a $45,000 technology grant, which will help replace older computer equipment and add special educational software for children.
The library will be able to upgrade 14 computers on the patron network, a server, a color printer, an LCD projector, and several monitors. Four early literacy stations, along with some software for adults, will be funded by the grant, as well.
More computer classes also will be added next year to make use of that new equipment, library staff said. All equipment is expected to be ordered before the end of the year.
"The extra funding will help the library keep a significant part of our computer inventory up-to-date," Elizabeth Steffensen, head of information services, said in a news release. "The library has always strived to meet the technology needs of our patrons, and this extra funding will allow the library to take a huge step forward."
The grant was provided by the Illinois State Library, using funds under the federal Library Services and Technology Act.
