EAST DUNDEE – The CEO of a real estate auction firm was found dead of an apparent suicide Monday in an East Dundee wildlife preserve, police said.

Kane County police said they found Steven L. Good, 52, of Highland Park sitting inside a red Jaguar at 8:19 a.m. with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. The Jaguar was parked in a parking lot at Max McGraw Wildlife Preserve near Route 25 and I-90. Police said they did not find a suicide note.

Good was chairman and CEO of Sheldon Good & Co., a firm that auctions and sells real estate, provides real estate consulting, and lends money to real estate buyers and sellers, according to the company’s Web site, www.sheldongood.com. He is a former chairman of the National Association of Realtors and the Chicago Association of Realtors, and an attorney who has worked for the U.S. Senate, the Cook County Assessor’s Office, the States Attorney’s Office, and the U.S. Department of Justice.

He also is the author of “Churches, Jails, and Gold Mines: Mega-Deals from a Real Estate Maverick.”
