Two injured in crash on Route 47
WOODSTOCK – Two people were taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening after a three-vehicle crash Thursday.
Donald Ross, 17, of Algonquin, was traveling north on Route 47 about 7:43 a.m. when he swerved to avoiding hitting a car that was turning onto Lucas Road, said Sgt. Richard Johns of the Woodstock Police Department.
Ross then lost control of his 2000 Chevrolet Venture and struck a southbound 2003 Ford F250 driven by 50-year-old Lawrence Youngs of Woodstock, Johns said.
Youngs’ truck then struck a third vehicle, a 1989 Toyota Corolla driven by Mary Jones, 38, of Woodstock, that had been stopped on eastbound Lucas Road, he said.
Youngs and Jones were transported by ambulance, but Ross declined treatment. Route 47 was closed for about 30 minutes.
Ross was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
