Ingleside man injured in truck crash

VOLO – A man was flown to Lutheran General Hospital for precautionary reasons after rolling his truck Friday morning. Fox Lake Deputy Fire Chief Larry Van Hoorelbeke said the man’s injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Emergency crews were dispatched about 9:46 a.m. to the crash at Route 12 and Hartigan Road, near the entrance of the Home Depot, he said. Police believe that the driver, Mark E. Jarocki, 38, of Ingleside, had been driving east on Hartigan Road when he lost control of the vehicle, said Sgt. Christopher Thompson of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The 1999 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck appeared to have swerved onto the south shoulder, spun around, and crossed the four lanes of Hartigan Road before striking a retention wall off the north shoulder of the road, Thompson said. It then flipped onto its top.

The truck ended up in a water retention area, Van Hoorelbeke said.

“Thank God it was empty,” he said.

Jarocki, the only person in the truck, had to be freed from the vehicle by Fox Lake Fire Department rescuers. He was unconscious when he was removed about 20 minutes later, Thompson said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Police continued to investigate the accident Friday and were looking into the possibility that Jarocki had a seizure, Thompson said.
