MCC’s ‘Reckless’ cast to honor members they lost
The cast and crew of McHenry County College’s production of the dark, zany comedy, “Reckless,” will dedicate the rest of their performances to the memory of MCC theater students Josh Jacobson of McHenry and Jacob VanderPal of Hebron.
The students were killed Friday in a car accident.
Tonight’s performance of “Reckless” has been canceled.
Performances will continue as scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and March 19-21 in the Black Box Theatre, Room D167 at MCC.
Tickets from the canceled March 7 performance and tonight’s canceled performance will be honored at any other performance.
“[Jacobson] was one of the nicest people I ever met,” said cast member Sean McCord of Crystal Lake.
“We will do the show in memory of him. In the little time he’s done acting, he put his whole heart into his character.”
Kyle Phillips of Lake in the Hills, who will take on Jacobson’s lead role of Lloyd, said Jacobson always had a smile on his face and had a positive attitude.
“You cannot picture him unhappy. He cared more about the entire experience of acting instead of how many people would come to watch,” Phillips said.
“Josh and I would work on our lines together,” said Jessica LoBue of McHenry.
“His dedication to acting was impeccable. He was the kind of person who made friends very easily and he made everyone laugh backstage when he wasn’t performing.”
Tickets are $7 for students, faculty and staff, seniors and alumni, and $14 for the general public.
