Judgment concern
To the Editor:
My statement is not about political partisanship. I believe that Nunda residents should be truly concerned with the credibility and judgment of Patrick Murfin and Meredith Reid Sarkees as Nunda trustee candidates.
According to his own profile on the county Democratic Web site, Murfin was tried, convicted and sentenced to three years in prison in 1973 for refusing induction into the armed forces. Trustees need to maintain a good relationship with veteran senior citizens and veterans organizations. Murfin can’t relate to these groups.
I’m appalled that County Board member Kathleen Bergan Schmidt and Sarkees are supporting this person. Are they really concerned with the best interests of Nunda residents? Are they just willing to support their candidate despite his unpatriotic backround?
As a Desert Storm USN veteran and a dedicated Nunda Township resident, I want the best candidates speaking on behalf of the citizens of our community.
