Sickened by attacks
To the Editor:
As residents and employees of Richmond Township, we are sickened by the attacks against Tamara Valentine-Garza as well as township employees. Adam Metz won this election on a smear campaign. A letter sent April 30 crossed the line, and we refuse to let this abuse continue silently.
We take this opportunity to set the record straight. The first issue was that Valentine-Garza told her employees that their jobs and the transportation program were in jeopardy. That is false. Any employee would assume their job may be in jeopardy with any transition.
Another issue is the pay of the bus drivers, who earn on average $15.50 per hour with no benefits. This is not paid when a driver donates time to plan events for seniors, or hold fundraisers, etc.
We also would like to know, when did working with our neighboring community make us unethical? Genoa City has seniors as does Richmond, each town has welcomed each other and there have been instances where we have assisted each other. If Metz had any qualms about the cooperative agreement, it could have been discussed in our meetings.
We find it appalling that these candidates continue to harass Valentine-Garza and the people who work with her.
