Enjoy Art on the Fox this Saturday

By JENN WIANT - jwiant@nwherald.com

ALGONQUIN – Find out how local artists view the world Saturday by attending Algonquin’s second annual Art on the Fox fine art show in Riverfront Park.

More than 30 local artists will display and sell paintings, photography, fiber art, jewelry, ceramics, glass and sculptures from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the park on Harrison Street, a block north of Algonquin Road.

The art show is free and open to the public. If it rains Saturday, the event will take place Sunday instead.

The father-and-son team of Jim and Shawn Barbaggallo will display gold pottery made through an ancient Japanese ceramic technique called raku. View off-the-wall sculptures by Jonah Ortiz, glass pieces by Matt Brej, detailed paintings by Kenneth Webster, or ceramic, wire art, graphic art and face painting by Webster’s daughter, Allissa Webster-Phillips.

Some artists will demonstrate their techniques.

The Algonquin Public Arts Commission will sponsor the show. Each year since 2005, the commission has exhibited about 30 pieces of art at indoor and outdoor locations in public buildings and parks.
