CRYSTAL LAKE – Firefighters extinguished a house fire just moments after a tornado warning was lifted.
Firefighters arrived at 849 Canterbury Drive in the pouring rain shortly around 9:15 a.m. Fire engines and crews responded from several area departments. No one was injured. The sole occupant of the home evacuated.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Chief James Moore said. A hole in the roof could be seen smoking as firefighters entered the home.
Neighbors stood out in the rain and watched the scene unfolding, many clutching umbrellas.
