Proud pro-choice

To the Editor:

Re: Ronald Ferraro’s letter, “Less than human” (June 11).

Mr. Ferraro, I am a proud pro-choice advocate. I am most certainly human, and very realistic.  Using your figures, let’s look at things a different way. 1,429,279 reported abortions took place in 1990.

Most of those children would have been born to people who weren’t ready emotionally or financially to care for a child. They weren’t responsible enough to not get pregnant in the first place.

That’s 1,429,279 more people being supported by government programs, getting health care that others deserve, and adding to the crime rate because they were likely raised in neglectful homes.

Since you, Mr. Ferraro, feel so strongly against abortion and the “morbid” people who have it performed because they know it is the responsible thing to do, would you rather have 1,429,279 children calling you “Daddy?” Would you like to support them, house them, feed them, etc?

Before you call another person and their responsible actions “less than human,” take a minute to think whether you would do anything after these unwanted children are born.

Most anti-abortion critics do absolutely nothing and leave them to everyone else to take care of.
