WOODSTOCK – A 56-year-old Crystal Lake man pleaded guilty to his sixth and seventh drunken-driving offenses Monday.

In exchange for Daniel Munoz pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated driving under the influence and to a single count of driving on a revoked license, prosecutors dropped more than a dozen other charges.

They also agreed to seek a prison term of between eight and 15 years at his sentencing hearing Sept. 18. The most serious charge of which he was convicted normally is punishable with between six and 30 years in prison.

If the cases had gone to trial, an Oakwood Hills police officer would have testified that Munoz was speeding and driving erratically Feb. 4, 2007. A Breathalyzer test later showed that his blood-alcohol content was 0.385 percent, above the 0.08 percent legal limit.

Testimony also would have revealed that Crystal Lake police believed that Munoz was driving drunk June 26, 2006. He refused to take a Breathalyzer test then, but police found an open can of beer in his vehicle, prosecutors said.
