Manners in decline
To the Editor:
I am so proud of the Northwest Herald.
Kudos to the author of the June 20 editorial about our coarse, dumb-downed society.
I have lived through the two-generations span, and can verify the Northwest Herald’s statement.
How society has changed over such a relatively short space of time.
I remember as a child of the ’40s and ’50s, adults, in the presence of children, whispering “… he/she said the ‘F’ word.”
So many people today belittle the wholesome attitudes of the ’50s.
For example, TV was clean and entertaining, leaving viewers with a happy, light-hearted feeling.
Because of our liberal “it’s our right” attitude, life in America has become immoral and dangerous. A perfect example is in the move “Back to the Future.”
Compare the ’50s atmosphere to Marty’s time in the ’80s and fast forward to 2009.
More decline.
I can continue with my diatribe, but the Herald said it all. I intend to send copies of your opinion to my family and friends.
Thank you, and God bless.
