A critical time
To the Editor:
It’s difficult to keep track of all the attacks on this country being launched by those who have sworn to uphold and protect the Constitution.
Trillion-dollar bills are pushed through Congress in a few hours each, which moves this country closer to fascism. Most people are numb and prefer to avoid thinking about it or merely shake their head in disgust while struggling to avoid acknowledging the fact that they already have given up mentally.
The patriots responsible for the freedom that briefly made this country the envy of the world would rise up in rebellion if they were to witness what is being perpetrated by those in Washington, and the statehouses across the country, whose goal is clearly the enslavement of you.
Nobody wants to think about these issues. The fact is that throughout most of human history, mankind has been ruled, as most countries still are, by theocracies and dictators. It was only the intransigent commitment of a minority of heroes that allowed a brief glimpse of the life possible to man. The United States is at a critical time.
We still have a First Amendment. It’s time to use it as if your life depends on it.
