Protesters hold signs and umbrellas during Saturday’s tea party protest along Route 14 near Liberty Road in Crystal Lake. Several hundred protestors joined others across the county and the country to voice their opposition to taxation and government spending for the July 4 event. Participants in the Crystal Lake Fourth of July tea party, organized by Patriots United, were encouraged to bring placards, American flags, and cell phones to call Congress and President Obama to voice their opinions on taxation.
