HUNTLEY – Two men who allegedly broke into two Huntley homes Thursday and stole two purses and an iPod remain in McHenry County Jail.
Alexander Hoyne, 19, of 9567 Inverness Drive, Huntley, and Jeffrey W. Nanstiel, 20, of 328 Oxford Road, Des Plaines, were taken into custody after Huntley police chased them on foot, acting on a tip from witnesses.
“Credit must be given to the citizens that alerted police to the location of the suspects,” Huntley police Deputy Chief Todd Fulton said. “With the help of the citizens and the work of the officers involved, we were able to make a quick arrest in these cases.”
In both cases, the homes – one on the 10700 block of Potomac, the other in the 9900 block of Thornton Way – were entered through rear sliding-glass doors.
Huntley police also allege that the duo broke out the window of a 2009 Lexus in the 10100 block of Ashley Street but did not take anything.
Hoyne was charged with two counts of residential burglary, three counts of criminal damage to property, two counts of theft, and two counts of possession of burglary tools for a pair of gloves with an attached flashlight he was found with.
Nanstiel was charged with two counts of residential burglary, three counts of criminal damage to property, and two counts of theft.
Each is being held on $7,100 bond.
