Hearing set for conservation design changes

McHenry County government is seeking public comment on revisions to the conservation design portion of the subdivision ordinance.

The Land First Committee is hosting a public forum for comment at 10 a.m. July 16 at the county Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock.

Conservation design guidelines, added to the subdivision ordinance in 2008, deal with development in or next to natural areas. The standards are meant to protect sensitive environments and groundwater recharge areas.

A copy of the proposed conservation design addendum can be downloaded from www.tinyurl.com/lwl6y5. The ordinance is on 30-day review and will be brought before the McHenry County Board for a vote at its Aug. 18 meeting.
