Fourth one of safest on water

This year’s Fourth of July weekend was the first since 2005 in which no boating-related deaths were tallied in Illinois, the state Department of Natural Resources said in a news release.

The department’s conservation police officers issued six DUIs and 30 OUIs during the holiday weekend, between Friday and Sunday, the release said.

McHenry, Lake and Kane counties accounted for three of the total OUIs and one of the DUIs.
