Teen’s hand injured by meat grinder

WOODSTOCK – A 19-year-old male grocery store employee suffered a serious injury after catching his hand in a meat grinder Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. while the teen was working at Supermarket La Trinidad in Woodstock, fire officials said. A Flight for Life helicopter soon landed in the nearby parking lot of the old Farm & Fleet store at the intersection of Routes 14 and 47.

The boy – whose name was not immediately available Wednesday night – was flown to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where his condition also remained unknown.
