Woman charged with DUI for crash

By NORTHWEST HERALD

WOODSTOCK - A 19-year-old Cary woman has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence related to a crash that injured her and two of her passengers.

McHenry County Sheriff’s police announced Tuesday that Kaylee Smith, of 6 Lakewood Drive, has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence involving great bodily harm related to a 5:53 a.m. Thursday crash in the 7800 block of Barnard Mill Road.

Police said Smith was traveling north in a 1999 Dodge Durango when the truck left the road, hit a culvert and launched into a utility pole before rolling into a field.

As a result of the investigation, three other minors were charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol: Lukas A. Ruckoldt, 19, of 10115 Meadow Lane, Hebron; Allison B. Levin, 19, of 3517 Oak Leaf Lane, Crystal Lake; and a 17-year-old minor.

Police said Ruckoldt refused medical attention at the scene. Smith and two other passengers were taken to Centegra Hospital-McHenry for treatment. Smith and Ruckoldt were both wearing seat belts, but police said they are not certain whether the other passengers were seat belted.

Rescue workers from Richmond Township and Wonder Lake Fire Protection Districts responded to the crash.

Smith remained in McHenry County Jail on Tuesday.
