Police: Spring Grove man arrested for child porn

By CRYSTAL LINDELL - nwherald.com

RICHMOND – A Spring Grove man is scheduled to appear in court next week after child pornography allegedly was found on his computers.

Officials found images and video of illicit material on Leon Pierro’s home and work computer,  Richmond Police Chief John Fryksdale said.

Pierro, 54, is a partner at EMS Industrial and Service Co. in Richmond, and the matter was brought to police after an internal investigation by that company.

"We've been investigating this for about a week and a half," Fryksdale said.

Pierro, of the 9400 block of Elizabeth Lane, Spring Grove, was arrested Monday while at the McHenry County Courthouse for a civil matter, Fryksdale said. He bonded out of the McHenry County Jail the same day for $8,000.

Fryksdale said he didn’t believe that Pierro posed a threat to the community.

“I’m confident of that at this time,” he said. “I think there were just some images and video.”

His computers were confiscated and will be investigated by the Department of Homeland Security and federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. Fryksdale said both specialized in computer forensics, which was why they were assisting. He added that more charges still could be filed.

Pierro was charged with four counts of possession of child pornography, a class 3 felony and faces an Oct. 13 court date.
