Harvard man charged with sending threatening e-mail

WOODSTOCK – A Harvard man is free on bond after police said he sent an e-mail threatening the McHenry County Circuit Clerk’s Office.

James Day, 55, was charged with threatening a public official, a felony, after he made statements personally threatening Circuit Clerk Katherine Keefe and her office, said Sgt. Mike Cisner of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

“He was relaying his disappointment in court proceedings and fines that were set against him in previous offenses,” Cisner said.

The e-mail was opened Monday, and Day was arrested later that day. He made no effort to conceal his identity and included his name on the e-mail, Cisner said.

The fines were related to cases over a battery charge, defrauding a drug and alcohol test, and traffic offenses, Cisner said.
