Fire leaves home uninhabitable

LAKEMOOR – A residence was left uninhabitable Friday night after a fire damaged mostly its kitchen and garage area.

No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters responded about 5:30 p.m. to a structure fire at 306 N. Kent Road in unincorporated Lakemoor. Upon arriving at the scene, heavy smoke was pouring from the home and flames could be seen near the roof, McHenry Township Fire Protection District Lt. Jennifer Bazan said.

"It sustained pretty significant fire damage," Bazan added. "At this time, the only information I have is it potentially started in the basement and then pushed its way up to the house area."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Fox Lake Fire Department also responded to the scene.
