CHICAGO (AP) – Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, still recovering after taking a thunderous hit two days ago, missed his second consecutive practice Friday.

Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said Toews still could play tonight against Nashville, and the team should know more by this morning.

Vancouver’s Willie Mitchell was coming out of the penalty box and leveled the unsuspecting Toews in the third period Wednesday. Toews got up, wobbled to the bench and missed the final 14 minutes of the Hawks’ 3-2 loss.

Also missing practice for a second consecutive day was defenseman Brent Seabrook, who also was shaken up in the final period against the Canucks.

Quenneville also said Cristobal Huet, the team’s top goalie who has struggled at times this season, will start against the Predators.
