Sleep out for shelter

To the Editor:

What kind of car do you drive? How big is your home? What’s in your fridge or when was your last meal?

Many McHenry County citizens don’t ask these questions simply because we don’t need to.

The people that do have to think about these questions are those less fortunate.

The homeless in McHenry County are not being ignored. In partner with several Christian congregations, many community organizations, individuals and the PADS Organization, people in McHenry County are not turning their backs to the needs of these people.

On April 17, 2010, groups of people will choose to spend a night outside to bring homeless awareness to the community.

Although this is only a small glimpse into their lives, the PADS organization hopes to raise more than $100,000 for the homeless in McHenry County.

Whether you are a teenager, a family of five or a retired teacher, we ask you to leave your home and comfort for one night to bring relief to those who cannot help themselves.
