Let’s opt out

To the Editor:

Who are the Democrats trying to fool with the “opt-out” public option health care plan?

The government Medicaid plan implemented in all states has an “opt-out” option; but after rising costs to states, has any state canceled this coverage?  No, and the states have increased their Medicaid costs each year with their budgets exploding in “red” ink.

If any state did opt out of the public option health care plan, would the states opt out of federal taxes imposed on their citizens to pay for a government health care plan?  No, for how will health care coverage be paid to the other states that opt in.

Also, the Democrat fuzzy mathematics has every citizen paying taxes over the next 10 years for this health care coverage immediately on Obama’s signature; but each citizen won’t enjoy the health care benefits until year 2013? That’s one year after the Obama’s planned re-election as president. Is that scary?

Obama insists the public option will have to cover all its costs. Oh, really. When Medicare Part B was set up in 1966, premiums paid by retirees were supposed to cover 50 percent of its outlays. Instead, Congress limited rate increases so that before long, premiums were covering just 25 percent of the bills.

Let’s opt out of Obamacare.
