HARVARD – Two police charity groups are teaming up to help the daughter of one of their own who has cancer.

Lake in the Hills Police Benevolent Association and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department Police Benevolent and Protective Association will host a couples bowling tournament Saturday at McGarry’s Bowl in Harvard for Rylie Mogan.

Mogan, the 8-year-old daughter of a Lake in the Hills police officer, was diagnosed with desmoplastic round cell tumors, an aggressive, rare form of cancer, two days after her 8th birthday.

Check-in for the “Scotch doubles” couples bowling event is at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $40 a couple.

Six law enforcement officers also will shave their heads at the event after raising money from the community to do so.

All proceeds will go to the Mogan family to help cover medical-related costs.

The Lake in the Hills American Legion also will conduct a silent auction and Hooters chicken fundraiser for Mogan. The event will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Legion’s Post 1231 at 1101 W. Algonquin Road.
