CARPENTERSVILLE – A 44-year-old Carpentersville woman is accused of unintentionally killing an 8-month-old who died of hyperthermia after she allegedly left the infant unattended.

Deanna L. Williams, 44, of the 3800 block of Parsons Road, was indicted Friday on charges of involuntary manslaughter, and four counts of endangering the life or health of a child, according to a news release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. She allegedly was baby-sitting the infant April 22.

Hyperthermia is an exceptionally high fever, according to Merriam-Webster’s Web site.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Williams could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.

She was arrested Friday and her bail was set at $100,000. Her next court date is Thursday.
