Health Ponzi scheme
To the Editor:
In response to Don Metivier’s letter of Oct. 24, perhaps we can stop outgassing regarding the Healthcare Reform Act, which like Social Security and Medicare, is nothing more than the latest government Ponzi scheme. Most of us realize these programs are broke, and will go unfunded unless onerous taxes are imposed. These are programs that our politicians don’t require each other to live with, or pay for.
Not convinced? We have only to look at Europe to see what high taxation and endless social programs have wrought – unmitigated economic disasters. And they don’t pay for their defense.
We pay their way.
And we pay for it with profits, earned by our ingenuity, hard work, and tech savvy. Profits that our government taxes and dispenses as it sees fit, never wisely.
Problems? Of course. By the score. Because our Pols are not minding the store.
There’s enough blame to paint both sides.
But without Republican opposition, we can go back to the Carter years of 20-percent-plus interest rates, and 70 percent tax rates. Europe, here we come.
No thanks. Let the Democrats alone pay for the next Ponzi scheme.
If it’s still solvent after 30 years, the rest of us may sign on.
