Fundraiser to help with bills

CRYSTAL LAKE – A fundraiser will be Nov. 15 to help pay medical bills for a Crystal Lake woman who suffered a brain aneurysm.
Denise Carmody, 45, awoke at 4 a.m. one June morning to get ready for her job at Home Depot. But a nagging headache turned into a brain aneurysm, and she began to have seizures.
Carmody was in a coma for weeks after brain surgery and before beginning rehabilitation. She now is home with her family, including her husband, Tim; 21-year-old daughter, Amanda; and 18-year-old son, Joe.
But she needs constant care, and health insurance does not cover all the bills, said Cindy Brasie, who has been friends with Carmody since their daughters were in kindergarten.
The Brasie Family is hosting the fundraiser from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 15 at D’Andrea Banquets and Conference Center, 4419 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
Pasta will be served. There will be a cash bar, silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Tickets are $25 or $15 for children 12 and younger.
To buy tickets, which are available through Tuesday, call Brasie at 815-477-7684.
Donations also may be made to the Denise Carmody Caring Fund at Home State Bank, 50 W. Acorn Lane, Lake in the Hills.
