Stop Ridgefield Metra

Comments (...)

To the Editor:

Thanks in advance to the Crystal Lake City Council for catching a huge blunder before implementation. It appears that the recent meeting with Metra on their proposed Ridgefield site brought concerns to the table. I must agree with the concerns. Right now, traffic is backed up to the new Ridgefield subdivision when one school bus stops to open its door to view the tracks for half a minute. With a train station and several stopping trains, traffic will be at least 1 mile long when you look at Ridgefield Road, Hillside Road and County Club Road combined.

The facts are very simple. The site cannot and will not work. Eight hundred fifty seven spots, in and out daily. Consider that cars are not the cleanest source of transportation. With 1,000 cars in and out, the facts are some are leaking oil, trans fluid and anti-freeze, leaking right in to the very popular watershed.

Stop the blundering mistake before one more dollar is spent. Hundreds of thousands of dollars and six months were spent on a proposal with Viking Dodge recently. What happened?

Ethically, morally, legally, the simple answer is no. Not on this site.
