CARPENTERSVILLE – A boy walking near Sunny Hill Elementary School was hit by a car Tuesday afternoon, but reportedly was in good condition.

About 3:30 p.m., a car traveling in the 2500 block of Helm Road was stopped at a stop sign when a second vehicle rear-ended it. The force pushed the stopped vehicle forward, striking a male child.

Carpentersville fire officials said the boy rolled on top of the car and hit the windshield. He was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin with injuries that were not life threatening.

The 17-year-old female driver of the second vehicle also was taken to Sherman with minor injuries.

The male adult driver in the stopped car was treated and released at the scene.

No passengers were traveling in either car.

Additional information – including any possible citations – was not available Tuesday night.
