Teen cited in C’ville crash
CARPENTERSVILLE – A 17-year-old driver was cited in a collision that resulted in a pedestrian being struck by a second car, police said.
Siena Romano of Wayne was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision after her vehicle struck a car stopped at a stop sign Tuesday afternoon, Carpentersville Police Cmdr. Tim Bosshart said.
About 3:15 p.m., a car traveling in the 2500 block of Helm Road was stopped at a stop sign when a second vehicle, driven by Romano, rear-ended it. The force pushed the stopped vehicle forward, and it struck a 14-year-old boy walking near Sunny Hill Elementary School. He reportedly was in good condition.
Carpentersville fire officials said the boy rolled on top of the car and hit the windshield. He was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Romano also was taken to Sherman with minor injuries. The male adult driver in the stopped car was treated at the scene.
