ECC to host open house for studentsBy NORTHWEST HERALDELGIN – High school students interested in attending Elgin Community College and learning more about preparing for college are invited to an open house Wednesday. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Advanced Technology Center Auditorium on the school’s main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive. Staff from the ECC Office of Admissions and Recruitment will offer insight into ECC’s benefits, including smaller class sizes and affordable tuition, which amounts to a fraction of what public and private four-year institutions cost. Current students also will be on hand to discuss their personal perspectives about the ECC experience. Additional presentations include how to prepare for college placement tests; how to choose a college major; how to search for and obtain scholarships and other types of financial aid; and a tour of the ECC campus while classes are in session. Participants are encouraged to use parking lots 11 and 12 off Renner Drive and enter under the red triangular roof of the Visual and Performing Arts Center. Because of construction on Spartan Drive from McLean Boulevard west to Renner Drive, motorists may use either Fleetwood Drive or Weld Road to Second Street. From the west, motorists entering on Spartan Drive from Randall Road will be detoured north onto Renner Drive to access the campus. For information about the open house or to sign up, call the ECC Office of Admissions and Recruitment at 847-214-7385 or visit www.elgin.edu/visitecc. Comments |
