Districts 2 and 157 to discuss merger

The districts 2 and 157 school boards host a joint meeting Thursday to talk about a study that suggested the two districts merge.

If you'll recall, the two boards met jointly last month when analysts from Johnson Associates unveiled their feasibility study on a possible merger. Head analyst Donald Johnson, a former school superintendent, said merging wouldn't save the districts money in the short-term but was the best move structurally. Here's a link to the story about that meeting: http://www.nwherald.com/articles/2009/05/20/r_qtqr_j9xs12lcj2i7wsptw/

Thursday the two districts are meeting at the Richmond-Burton High School auditeria to discuss the study. The meeting is at 7 p.m. at 8311 N. Richmond Road, in Richmond.

It's an open meeting, so anyone is welcome to attend. My prediction is that attendance will be high, as it was at the last meeting, not only because it concerns children but also because it could mean higher property taxes for residents.
