Heineman reports success with behavior program
Heineman Middle School recently announced its discipline referrals decreased 79 percent last year, attributing the success to its new Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions program.
A team of teachers and staff worked together to implement the program, which includes various strategies and intervention techniques for all students. School officials say the proactive approach to disclipline has alleviated the necessity to always be reactive to disciplinary problems.
The school's PBIS Universal Team is currently seeking parent volunteers to be part of the process. The group meets on a monthly basis.
