Sox-Indians series preview

The White Sox say they will not take the Cleveland Indians lightly after wrapping up an 18-game stretch against teams with winning records.

The Indians (46-62) arrive at U.S. Cellular Field for a three-game series against the White Sox (56-53) that starts Friday. The Sox are two games behind the Detroit Tigers and will aim for their eighth consecutive winning series at home this weekend.

Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said he would not allow his team to let its guard down after winning three out of four against the Yankees and two out of three against the Angels. The Yankees and Angels own the top two records in the American League.

"That's my job and that's the coaches job and that's the players job," Guillen said. "Make sure we keep fighting. Look at what Cleveland does. I don't like those type of teams. Those guys are not going to sit back and relax. They're not in the pennant race, [but] they say, 'We're going to play for fun, and we're going to play good enough to beat somebody else.' "

The Sox are 7-5 against Cleveland this season, including five wins in their last six games. Friday's starter, Mark Buehrle, is 10-13 with a 4.80 ERA against the Indians in his career.

Here is a look at the probable pitching matchups for the series. Rain has fallen at U.S. Cellular Field for the past couple of hours, but radar indicates that the weather should clear up by the scheduled starting time.
