Proposed gas station on LITH, Algonquin border reveals new plan Monday

The proposed Road Ranger gas station in Algonquin at Algonquin Road and Wentworth Drive will go before the village's Planning and Zoning Commission Monday night, just weeks after Lake in the Hills trustees opted not to give the business street access on its side of the border.

Road Ranger is trying to build on Algonquin Road at Wentworth Drive, just east of Lakewood Road. The developer had planned for the commercial development there to have its central roadway connect with the one in the neighboring commercial development in Lake in the Hills, which contains a 7-Eleven and Castle Bank. But some Lake in the Hills officials said a new gas station would draw business away from the 7-Eleven.

The developers said they would redraw their plans and charge ahead with their project, which still needs approval from Algonquin leaders.

The project will go to the commission at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Algonquin Village Hall, 2200 Harnish Drive.
