LAKE FOREST – A hand injury suffered in practice on Thursday will keep Shea McClellin out of the Bears’ “Monday Night Football” meeting with the Jets. He’ll be joined on the sideline by Jeremiah Ratliff (concussion), Roberto Garza (ankle), Matt Slauson (ankle) and Sherrick McManis (quad), all officially ruled out.

The Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers have gotten it right now by placing Adrian Peterson and Greg Hardy on the commissioner’s exempt list, a special and rare designation that allows the team to retain its rights to a player while not keeping him on the active roster. The player continues to be paid his full salary, so he is not being harmed or penalized in any way while his case works its way through the legal system.
