CHICAGO (AP) — Longtime Chicago Alderman Toni Preckwinkle has defeated Democratic Cook County Board President Todd Stroger in Illinois' primary election.
CHICAGO (AP) – A longtime Republican congressman and Illinois' first-term Democratic treasurer will fight in November for President Barack Obama's old Senate seat, one of the most coveted in the nation and one the GOP is eager to capture.
Republican voters overwhelmingly chose McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren to be their nominee on Tuesday, handing the incumbent a landslide victory over challenger and former deputy Zane Seipler.

McHenry County Board member Tina Hill is seeking a third term, former member John Jung wants his old seat back, and challenger David Frederick wants to give the board “a blunt dose of common sense.”
In a state renowned for back-room deals, bribery and the very worst in “public service,” David Hoffman bleeds integrity.
One could understand if Washington had a hard time believing there are still Republican voices left in Illinois, at least Republican voices ready to serve in the U.S. Senate.

One incumbent and four challengers are running for two open seats in the Republican primary for McHenry County Board District 3.
Constituents of McHenry County Board District 3 are fortunate to have strong, independent voices on the primary ballot.
In McHenry County Board District 5, Tina Hill, currently on the board, sees our challenging economy as the most pressing issue facing the county today.
Republican voters in McHenry County Board District 6 have a good mix of incumbents and challengers to choose from Feb. 2.
