Tevyaw threw a three-hitter, striking out nine, and delivered a walk-off double as the Tigers beat Prairie Ridge, 3-2, Saturday, ending the Wolves’ 17-game winning streak. Tevyaw issued only one walk in the game and was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. The senior left-hander had two other standout performances last week, starting with Monday’s two-hitter in a 2-0 win against Woodstock North. He struck out 11 and walked one in that game. That gave him 20 strikeouts and five hits allowed in 14 innings for the week. Tevyaw also was 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs in Central’s 9-5 loss to Crystal Lake South on Thursday.

Johnson had a monster week for the Wolves, who outscored their opponents, 50-5, in Fox Valley Conference Fox Division victories over Woodstock, Woodstock North, Hampshire and Grayslake North. The senior catcher hit a grand slam against Woodstock, followed by back-to-back, two-homer games against Woodstock North and Hampshire – going a combined 6 for 8 with five homers and 18 RBIs. Johnson hit two homers in the first inning against Woodstock North, including a grand slam and a three-run shot. Against Hampshire, she hit a pair of three-run homers. Johnson entered the week with no home runs and four RBIs. She now has five homers and 22 RBIs. Prairie Ridge coach Mike Buck said Johnson had an ankle injury at the beginning of the season, but she appears well over it now. She has since moved up to third in the batting order.

McCumber threw the Trojans' second perfect game this season to beat Dundee-Crown, 1-0, in a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game Friday. C-G's Danny Schmidt threw one earlier against Woodstock. McCumber was perfect against the Chargers, and the Trojans needed it as Thomas Nielson drew a bases-loaded hit by pitch to score the game's lone run off D-C sophomore Erik Hedmark. McCumber threw only 67 pitches and struck out six.

Rochotte knocked in four runs in each of two wins last week by the Hurricanes, who went 2-2 for the week. Rochotte was 3 for 4 with four RBIs in Wednesday's 7-4 victory over St. Patrick. His big blow came in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against Marist, when he hit a grand slam. He added a double in that game, which Marian won, 6-1.

Sengstock had five goals and an assist for the Gators as they won three times last week. She then scored two more goals in a Tuesday win over Jacobs. She had either a goal or an assist in three of their five games this week, highlighted by two goals and an assist against Woodstock North and a goal and an assist against Warren.

Geisser drove in a run in each of the Gators' three wins on their trip to downstate Marion, as they moved to 6-0 for the season. Geisser tripled and drove in a run in South's 6-4 win over Mount Vernon. He also had an RBI triple in the Gators' 4-2 victory against Benton.

Szamlewski vaulted his career-best 15 feet to place second at the Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Classic Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington. Szamlewski was the McHenry County and FVC champion last year and was second at the FVC Indoor Meet in March.

Miller, a junior Louisville commit, started the season with 19 strikeouts and allowing just one hit in nine innings in his first two starts combined. He threw five no-hit innings in a win over Antioch, his first victory of the season.

Russ, a 17-year-old Crystal Lake South senior had 88 points (57 goals, 31 assists) in only 23 games for the Upper Fox Valley Girls Hockey Club. She was recently named the Illinois Girls Hockey Player of the Year by the Amateur Hockey Association Illinois (AHAI).

At one point, Krutwig scored 18 points in a sectional semifinal loss to eventual sectional champ Rockford Auburn. The 6-foot-9 junior center finished with 26 points and 14 rebounds in the game, scoring 20 of Jacobs' 23 points in a first half where he dominated on the interior both offensively and defensively.

Andrews scored 27 points in Huntley's 56-43 win over Crystal Lake South in a Class 4A DeKalb Sectional semifinal, surpassing 2,500 points in her career. The Illinois signee added 18 points and 10 rebounds in Huntley’s 49-38 win against Hononegah in the sectional final, the Raiders' third sectional title in four years and second in a row. Andrews broke her own Huntley single-season scoring record and has 723 points in 33 games. She’s the area’s leading scorer at 21.9 points a game and had 2,548 career points after scoring 20 in her final game, a loss to Fremd in the Fremd Supersectional.

Brunner closed his perfect senior season with a second-period pin of Metea Valley's Dylan Ervin in the state finals. After finishing third and second in previous trips to state, Brunner won his first title and ended his record-setting year at 48-0. He's Dundee-Crown's third state wrestling champion and the first since 2008.

The senior needed just 2:10 total to win two matches at the Class 2A Harvard Regional. He also pinned his way to the finals at the 2A Antioch Sectional before taking the title on points. After a 1:22 pin in the semifinals, he pinned his oppoent in 48 seconds in the final to capture his fourth consecutive regional title. He’s 33-0 on the season.

Overly scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 58-47 Fox Valley Conference Fox Division win over Crystal Lake Central, also going 8 of 8 from the foul line. Overly added 22 points in a 52-50 win over previously undefeated Indian Creek, knocking down a pair of 3s and hitting all five of her free throws for the Blue Streaks on senior night. Earlier this year, she tied Emily Gerlick's single-game school record of seven 3s set in 2001.

Cashmore went 3-0 with a pin, minor decision and major decision in the championship match to take the 170-pound title at the Orion tournament. Cashmore, previously ranked No. 9 in Class 1A by, beat ranked wrestlers in his semifinal (Oregon’s John Ghibellin, Class 1A honorable mention) and final (Sherrard’s Sam Ryner, Class 1A No. 6). He was named outstanding wrestler of the tournament’s upper weight classes.

Knobloch scored 130 points in five games and raised his scoring average by 1.5 points a game as the Indians went 4-1 heading into last Thursday's win over Rockford Christian. Knobloch scored a career-high 40 points and tied a career-best with nine 3-pointers in the Indians’ 64-51 victory over Maine West to start the Burlington Central MLK Classic on Saturday. In his five games, the 6-foot senior had only one with less than 20 points, when he scored 19 in a 79-63 loss to South Elgin. Knobloch hit 22 3s in four games at Burlington and was a unanimous all-tournament selection. The 4-1 record lifted the Indians to 12-6 for the season.

Brunner remained undefeated – extending his record to 27-0 – by taking the 195-pound title at the Newbill Geneva Invitational on Saturday. Brunner was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler and also took home the fastest-pin award for a 22-second fall in his first bout of the day. A state runner-up last season, Brunner is's top-ranked wrestler in Class 3A at 195 pounds. He is now 28-0 after a win over McHenry.

Braun set one pool record and tied another this week, helping McHenry win the St. Viator Quadrangular. The senior’s winning time of 21.67 in the 50-yard freestyle was a pool record and his 47.29 while winning the 100 free tied the previous record. He was also involved in the Warriors’ winning 200 freestyle relay.

The Huntley heavyweight took third at the Al Dvorak Memorial Invitational in Machesney Park, getting two pins on the final day and winning the consolation final with a 5-3 decision over Chicago Mount Carmel’s Matthew Reyes. He was 18-3 heading into last Monday’s matches at Granite City, where he won the championship.

Interrante led the Skyhawks with 23 points, including four 3-pointers, in a 67-50 win over Woodstock in the final game of pool play at the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic to advance to the championship bracket. On Monday, the sophomore added 21 points against Lakes in a 57-48 semifinal win and she scored 12 in a tournament final win. She led Johnsburg (15-1) with 13.8 points a game heading into the final with 32 3s.

Piotrowski won the 126-pound division of the 56th Mudge/McMorrow Invitational at Prospect High School on Saturday. He was named Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament, his second such honor of the season, as the Wolves finished eighth in the 17-team tournament. Piotrowski won his other bout of the week, getting a pin in the Wolves 43-32 FVC Fox Division victory over Grayslake North.

Benoit was averaging 19.1 points a game for the Whip-Purs (8-2 now), who have won four straight and own the early lead in the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division at 2-0. Hampshire took second at the Hoffman Estates Tournament, and Benoit – along with teammate Nikki Dumoulin – was named to the all-tournament team. She opened the season with 28 points against Cary-Grove and matched it against Hoffman Estates..

Pischke, a senior guard for the Hurricanes, scored 78 points combined in Marian Central's first three games. He scored 31 in the opener against Cary-Grove, 32 against Antioch and 15 in a win against Round Lake.
