Baars, a Cary-Grove senior on the PR co-op team, won the IHSA all-around state championship on Friday and helped the Wolves capture their third consecutive IHSA team title on Saturday. Baars scored a 38.075 in the all-around, edging Glenbrook South’s Hannah Hartley (38.025). As a team, PR’s 148.8 bested second-place DeKalb (146.95).

Madsen had a monster game in a 58-44 Kishwaukee River Conference win against Woodstock North, scoring 21 points and hauling in 13 rebounds to lead the Skyhawks. She also chipped in two assists, four steals and a pair of blocks. With the win, the Skyhawks finished 12-0 and completed a perfect season in the inaugural year of the KRC.

Bayer gave Marengo all kinds of trouble Friday in the Rockets’ 57-40 victory, which was the Indians’ first loss in the Kishwaukee River Conference. Bayer scored 32 points in the game and hit 19 of 22 free throws. The 5-foot-10 senior guard, who passed 1,000 career points this season, also hit three 3-pointers in the game. He is averaging 15.7 points a game.

Interrante's six-game streak of 23-plus points was snapped in a 75-53 loss to Rock Island, the No. 2-ranked team in Class 4A, at the DeKalb Martin Luther King Jr. Tournament last week. Also at the tournament, the junior guard dropped 27 points against Lincoln-Way East and 20 points against Plainfield East. She made the all-tournament team, hitting 13 3-pointers in four games.

Ferrante won the 152-pound title at the Sycamore tournament, pinning four of his five opponents and winning the other match by a 6-0 decision. The freshman beat the No. 10 152-pounder in Class 3A in the semifinals by and then pinned the top-ranked Class 2A 152-pounder in the finals.

Clausen averaged 14.8 points and eight rebounds a game for the Red Raiders in the prestigious Montini Christmas Tournament, where Huntley finished 2-2 after an 0-2 start to the tournament. The 6-foot-1 senior forward had 13 points and six rebounds in a 36-31 win over Lake Zurich in the fifth-place consolation game. Against Marian Catholic, she poured in 23 points in a 40-33 victory.

Jacobs' 6-foot-9 senior scored 21 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and blocked seven shots to help the Golden Eagles to a 61-49 win over Prairie Ridge in the championship game of the Hinkle Holiday Classic. Krutwig helped Jacobs win their own tournament for the first time since 2008.

Toussaint continued his scoring tear for the Skyhawks with 50 points as Johnsburg split its two games for the week. Toussaint scored 28 and hit five 3-pointers Dec. 13 in a 95-59 win over North Boone. He came back with 22 points and three threes Saturday in the Skyhawks’ 81-61 loss to Zion-Benton at Jacobs’ Hinkle Holiday Classic. For the season, Toussaint is hitting 42.6 percent on 3-pointers and is averaging 23.9 points per game.

Alsot is giving opposing teams major fits and is one of the most difficult assignments on both ends of the court, averaging a double-double through eight games with 14.3 points and 13.6 rebounds a game. The 6-foot forward scored 20 points with 16 rebounds in a 59-37 Fox Valley Conference win over Crystal Lake Central on Tuesday and had 17 points and 15 rebounds in a 59-37 nonconference win against Woodstock North three days earlier.

Randazzo, a two-time returning state qualifier, got off to a strong start to his junior year. The 132-pounder won all seven of his matches, including five by pin, to help the Hurricanes take first at the Carmel duals.

Jayko made the game-winning field goal to beat Chicago Phillips 23-20 in overtime to advance to the IHSA Class 4A state championship game. Jayko also had two interceptions in Johnsburg's quarterfinal win over Genoa-Kingston seven days earlier.

Wuensch had a match-high 25 assists in Marian Central's IHSA Class 3A state championship game loss to Marian Catholic and ended her four-year varsity career with 2,346 assists, eight away from cracking the state's top-20. The Nevada commit also pounded two kills for the Hurricanes.

Evans scored seven rushing touchdowns in Prairie Ridge's 51-24 win over defending Class 6A state champion Montini. Evans ran for a total of 238 yards on 21 carries in the game. The undefeated Wolves move on to a quarterfinal game against Lake Forest this week.

Baudin led the Wolves' attack in both of their regional wins last week. She paced her team with 10 kills and seven digs in a 24-26, 25-11, 25-5 win over Hampshire, and added 12 kills and six digs in a 29-27, 22-25, 25-21 win over Crystal Lake South in the regional championship, giving the Wolves back-to-back regional titles. Baudin leads the Wolves this season with 222 kills to go with 213 digs and 37 aces.

Melick scored four goals in the Golden Eagles' 5-0 win over Elgin in Friday's regional title game. Those four goals bring his season total to 29 this year. Jacobs advances to play McHenry in a sectional semifinal this week.

King, McHenry's goalkeeper, had not conceded a goal since returning to the lineup, posting 10 consecutive shutouts before the Warriors' loss in PKs to Dundee-Crown last Thursday. He averaged 3.75 saves a game in four wins heading into last Tuesday.

Tarazi won two individual events and was a part of winning relays in both of the Crystal Lake co-op's meet wins the past week, collecting another record in the process. On Saturday at the Woodstock Invitational, Tarazi won the 200 freestyle (1:57.17) and 100 butterfly (59.16), as well as being part of the winning 400 and 200 freestyle relay teams. "It's not really where I wanted to be for this point of the season, I wanted to be a little faster, but I had a lot of fun today and that's all that counts," Tarazi said. Then on Tuesday, she won the 100 butterfly (58.47) and the 100 backstroke (58.69) in a dual against St. Viator. She was also part of the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays at St. Viator. The time in the 100 backstroke set a pool record, her fifth at St. Viator, adding to records she set there over the past two years in the 200 freestyle, 200 IM, 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle.

Peete ran for 248 yards and three touchdowns in the Skyhawks' 46-21 win over Rochelle. Peete carried the ball 18 times, tallying an average of 13.8 yards per carry. He also caught three passes for 55 receiving yards. Then he ran for 16 carries for 171 yards and four touchdowns while surpassing 4,000 career yards.

Dundee-Crown's Greg Williams rushed for a school-record 379 yards on 53 carries in a 35-28 loss to Hampshire in Week 1. Williams accounted for all four of the Chargers’ touchdowns. He rushed for three scores and also recorded a 19-yard receiving touchdown.

The Southeast Missouri commit came up big in a pair of Fox Valley Conference wins over Crystal Lake Central and Dundee-Crown, placing the Red Raiders at the top of the conference standings after the first week (tied with Prairie Ridge). Dion smashed 17 kills and added 20 digs in a 25-22, 22-25, 25-19 win over D-C, and led the team with seven kills in a tight contest against Central.

The senior Northwestern commit shot a 67, one off the course record, to win the Boulder Ridge Invitational. Farnam led the Wolves to the tournament title with his 5-under-par round. Farnam also shot a 70 to take medalist honors last week at the Cary-Grove Invite at Foxford Hills.

Tevyaw threw a three-hitter, striking out nine, and delivered a walk-off double as the Tigers beat Prairie Ridge, 3-2, Saturday, ending the Wolves’ 17-game winning streak. Tevyaw issued only one walk in the game and was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. The senior left-hander had two other standout performances last week, starting with Monday’s two-hitter in a 2-0 win against Woodstock North. He struck out 11 and walked one in that game. That gave him 20 strikeouts and five hits allowed in 14 innings for the week. Tevyaw also was 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs in Central’s 9-5 loss to Crystal Lake South on Thursday.
