The 6-foot forward led the Whip-Purs in scoring in a pair of wins last week, as Hampshire defeated Woodstock North, 40-26, in a FVC Fox Division game and then defeated Palatine, 49-32, in nonconference action. Benoit, an All-FVC Fox selection and Northwest Herald honorable mention last season, scored 23 points (5 of 6 free throws) and grabbed six rebounds against the Thunder, and then scored 17 more and secured eight boards against the Pirates.

Hampshire's Anton Krocko won the Tom Dubois Classic tournament at Richmond-Burton on Saturday to help the Whip-Purs to a team championship. In the finals, he decisioned Marian Central’s Thomas Welch, 4-0, in the title match. Krocko is ranked No. 5 by Illinoismatmen.com and Welch was No. 7 at the time.

Jazza Johns averaged 14 points, 13 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 4 blocks per game in the Skyhawks’ two victories in the Thanksgiving Turkey Thriller Tournament at Lake Zurich. Johnsburg bounced back from a 0-3 start in the tournament to finish 2-3, and Johns was named to the all-tournament team.

Josh Jandron scored 85 points in three games at the Woodstock Hoops for Healing Tournament and hit 50 percent of his 3-point shots, although the Thunder lost all three games. Jandron hit 15 of 30 3-point shots for the tournament and was 24 of 29 from the free-throw line for 82.7 percent.

Lach was named the Northwest Herald Softball Player of the Year. The senior hit 14 home runs, posted an area-best .609 on-base percentage and finished the season with an impressive 1.124 slugging percentage. Lach struck out only three times this season and finished with 53 hits for a .546 batting average. She shattered Jacobs’ career home run record, finishing with 30 career homers – doubling the previous mark.

Koepke pitched a complete-game shutout Monday against Crystal Lake South to seal McHenry’s outright FVC Valley Division title. Koepke held the Gators to four hits and struck out eight to earn the win. She also helped McHenry finish 3-0 at the 35th annual Harlem Invitational by picking up a win.

Ridout was 7 for 16 for the week, with three home runs and 10 RBIs, and also picked up two pitching victories to put him at 9-0. The shortstop-pitcher was 2 for 4 Monday in a 9-4 win against Genoa-Kingston, driving in five runs with a double and a homer. On Wednesday, he ripped a pair of homers and drove in three runs as Johnsburg edged Richmond-Burton, 5-4. Against Hampshire on Thursday, Ridout allowed three hits and one earned run in five innings for a 6-5 Johnsburg win. Ridout was 1 for 3 in both games against Crystal Lake Central, driving in one run Friday and two Saturday.

The Red Raiders' former closer, who was converted to a starter, came up big twice in a crucial week in the FVC Valley Division race. Kalish, who throws submarine style, won games against McHenry and Cary-Grove, to move to 4-0 for the season. On Tuesday, Kalish allowed two hits and one earned run, while striking out six and walking one in a 12-5 victory over McHenry. Kalish came back on Saturday, after Huntley had dropped division games to McHenry and C-G, and fired a three-hitter at C-G for a 5-3 victory. He struck out six, allowed three hits and two walks and retired 14 consecutive batters at one point in that game.

Schulz broke two records at the McHenry County Track and Field Meet (although she only got credit for one) in two of the most demanding races, the 800 meters and 300 low hurdles. Schulz finished second to Jacobs’ Lauren Van Vlierbergen in the 800, with both runners breaking the old record. Van Vlierbergen finished in 2:12.02, with Schulz at 2:14.42. Schulz then came back and ran 44.66 to break C-G’s Kathie Wollney’s 300 hurdles record of 45.343. She also anchored the Trojans’ winning 4x200 relay team and won the 200 meters. C-G won its sixth consecutive county meet team title.

The left fielder had 10 hits in the Warriors’ four wins for the week as they went 4-1, with three FVC victories. Borst singled and stole second in the ninth inning Saturday, then scored on an error as the Warriors edged Dundee-Crown, 3-2, in nine innings. He was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI in that game. Borst also was 2 for 5 with two doubles as McHenry beat D-C, 9-8, on Friday in nine innings. On Thursday, Borst was 3 for 3 with an RBI and runs scored in the Warriors’ 4-2 win against Carmel. He also was 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI in Tuesday’s 11-1 victory over Woodstock North.

The Skyhawks third baseman-pitcher had a huge hand in their two victories as the Skyhawks were 2-2 for the week. In Tuesday’s 8-1 victory over Cary-Grove, Kordik was 2 for 4 with a grand slam and five RBIs. The grand slam came late to seal the outcome. On Saturday, Kordik made one of his best starts of the season in a 7-1 win against Antioch. Kordik struck out 10, allowed one hit and issued no walks. Kordik also was 3 for 4 with an RBI in Wednesday’s 4-2 loss to Harvard and was 1 for 2 in Thursday’s 8-1 loss to Huntley.
