Tips for an unexpected lay over

SPONSORED

An unexpected layover can throw a wrench in your travel plans. But don’t let the delay cause you frustration. Instead, make the most of your downtime with these tips from Crystal Lake Travel:

1. Explore the airport

Now that you have some time to sit and stay awhile, find out what’s available to keep you entertained. For instance, most airports offer a variety of restaurants and bars to grab a bite or a cold beverage. Other airports also have an array of boutiques as well as souvenir and book shops to peruse. And these days, it’s not uncommon to find airports with amenities such as museums, concerts, children’s play areas, and even spas where you can get a massage, facial or even a manicure.

2. Get some exercise

Just because you have some time to pass doesn’t mean you have to stay idle. Instead, use the unexpected layover to get some exercise. Log some steps by walking through terminals. Some airports offer yoga rooms, walking tracks and fitness areas where you can go to burn off some calories.

3. Tour the city

If your layover is long enough, consider leaving the airport for a few hours and taking in the sights of the city you are in. Just make sure you leave plenty of time to get back for your next flight.

4. Enjoy the downtime

Spend the hours waiting for your next flight to finish a book, write a letter, watch a movie on your electronic device or even sneak in a nap. If you have access, head to the airport lounge where you’ll often find comfortable chairs, snacks and beverages.
