1. Prevent jetlag

Don’t let jetlag make it harder for you to enjoy your time away. A few days before the trip, start acclimating your body to the new time zone by altering eating and sleeping schedules. While on your flight, opt for water instead of alcohol and caffeinated drinks, both of which can cause the body to dehydrate substantially. 2. Don’t drink the water

You can reduce your risk of becoming ill by opting for bottled water instead and passing on the ice cubes in drinks. Additionally, make sure to purchase enough bottled water for later to use for brushing your teeth.

3. Practice daily vigilance

Maintain a healthy immune system while on your trip by daily applying sunscreen, using insect repellent to prevent mosquito and other bug bites, eating safe foods, getting enough sleep and exercise, and washing your hands often with soap and water. Do you take daily medications? If so, make sure to have an adequate supply from your doctor before leaving for your trip and to follow your prescription medicine regimen as closely as possible.

4. Consider travel insurance

While the hope is you can avoid getting sick during your travels, illness can still happen. Make sure you’re prepared just in case by considering travel health insurance. The policy could protect you in the event of an illness or injury when traveling outside of your country of residence.
