Home sales in county rise again

Make it five consecutive months of home sale gains for McHenry County, as the Illinois Association of Realtors reported Wednesday that home sales jumped 32 percent in November from a year earlier.

McHenry County posted 240 sales in November, up from 182 sales in November 2010. That pushes the county past its pace of home sales through the first 11 months of the year, compared with 2010.

Home prices continued to fall year-over-year, though, down 13.4 percent from November 2010 to $151,500.

Kane County's sales also jumped in November, up 19.2 percent to 378 sales from 317 sales in November 2010. The median home price fell 10.5 percent from a year earlier to $145,000.

Statewide, sales rose 14.2 percent in the month from a year earlier.
