WOODSTOCK – When Alec Kaiser enrolled at Woodstock High School his freshman year after being in private school, Jacob Norys welcomed him and they became good friends.

“They were pretty close,” said friend Madeline Frawley, who knew both of the 16-year-olds.

Kaiser and Norys died early Sunday in a single-car accident.

About 2 a.m., Kaiser was driving a 2010 Hyundai Elantra west on Davis Road when he lost control and left the road to the south. The vehicle rolled and crashed into a brick pillar and a tree. It came to a rest in the front yard of 14217 Davis Road.

Kaiser and Norys, who was the passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

Autopsies are scheduled for today.

The sheriff’s office said Kaiser and Norys were wearing seat belts, and the vehicle’s airbags deployed.

The crash is being investigated by the sheriff’s office’s Crash Investigation Unit.

Kaiser and Norys would have been juniors this fall at Woodstock High School.

Kaiser spent a lot of time on his family’s farm and was very loyal, Frawley said.

“He would defend his friends,” she said.

Norys was a friend who would do anything for the people he cared about.

“He was the kindest, most warm-hearted person I ever met,” Frawley said.

Norys played soccer for Woodstock High School his freshman year, and he was planning to try out for the varsity team for the upcoming season, said Mike Golda, the school’s head soccer coach.

“He had a great spirit, a great fight,” Golda said of Norys, who was a goalkeeper. “He would bark out orders and get defenses set up.”
