In the fold . . .

Pleats long have fascinated designers. For spring 2012, Prada, Celine and Jill Stuart reimagined Fortuny, sending box, knife and accordion pleats swishing down runways. Fold the look into your wardrobe and home.

• A mix of Greek sculpture and retro glam, this one-shoulder silk frock in aqueous blue offers a dance-worthy choice for what to wear to a black-tie wedding this summer. A structured belt reins in the volume and gives the waist definition. Counter the sweetness of the pleats with strappy platform sandals and chandelier earrings. (Marchioness dress, $350 at www.bhldn.com.)

• A smart accent for stepping out on a sultry (or any) evening, this sleek clutch is made from metallic fiber plissed to give a fanlike effect. An elegant mate to a black cocktail dress, a white suit or a navy gown. (Ballroom Hardcase clutch, $68 at www.accessorize.com.)

• These battery-operated lanterns add a festive touch to an outdoor event. When you’re finished, fold them down to store for the next time. Available in other bright colors and patterns. (Capri Breeze battery-operated lanterns, set of four, $17 at area World Market stores and www.worldmarket.com.)
