Can’t outlaw guns
To the Editor:
Because one person with a gun goes wild and kills, some people want to outlaw guns and create a gun-free society, taking away 80 million guns from the hands of legal, responsible citizens. Can anyone explain to me what good this will do?
If the gun-control block can try to shift the blame on the Aurora massacre on our gun laws, then let’s try this approach.
Everyone who lost a loved one in the Aurora killings should sue the state that would not allow people to defend themselves. But don’t stop there. Sue every politician who votes for gun control. Sue every person who votes for gun control. Charge each politician and gun control group with aiding and abetting the criminal element.
If former Mayor Daley had the gall to try to sue gun manufacturers because of drive-by killings, then we should be able to sue those who will not allow us to keep our legal and moral rights of self-protection.
There always will be a criminal element. They always will be armed. Society has proved this over and over again, and if the average citizen is unarmed, what do you honestly think will happen? I can’t figure the logic here.
