Woodstock-based American Community Bank & Trust announced the appointment of a new member of its board of directors.

The full-service commercial bank, founded in 2000 by a group of local business leaders, has assets of more than $750 million, 70 employees and locations in Huntley, Crystal Lake, McHenry and Woodstock.

The newest addition to the board, Sean Cwynar, currently serves as president of Action Health, a Bensenville-based national distributor of packaging products.

“Sean brings us tactical leadership experience and strategic insights. He will be a great asset as we pursue new opportunities in 2021 and beyond," Charles Ruth, the bank's chairman of the board, said in a news release. “We welcome Sean’s energy, customer focus and entrepreneurial spirit.”

After receiving a master's degree in business administration from University of Notre Dame, Cwynar worked briefly for IBM before joining the 37-year old family-owned Action Health, previously branded as Action Bag, according to a news release.

During Cwynar’s six years at Action Health he has been instrumental in building the strategic sales force, spearheading the company’s rebranding efforts, and executing the expansion of the international supply chain, according to the release. Cwynar brings the experience and skills necessary to enrich the board on multiple levels.
