Two Harvard men charged in beating

HARVARD – Two Harvard brothers, one of whom police say is a documented gang member, have been charged for allegedly beating up another man.

Rosendo Salinas-Flores, 20, and Octavio Salinas-Flores, 22, both of 701 N. Lincoln St., were charged with one count each of aggravated battery and mob action.

Rosendo Salinas-Flores was arrested at his home without incident, while Octavio Salinas-Flores, who is an alleged gang member, is not in custody. Investigators are asking that anyone with information regarding his location to call the McHenry County Sheriff's Office at 815-338-2144 or CrimeStoppers at 800-762-7867.

According to the sheriff's office, the victim reported that on July 23 near the 21900 block of Oak Grove Road, several men battered him. Harvard Fire Protect District responded to the scene and treated the man, who had minor injuries.

The sheriff's office's gang unit became involved after determining that one of the suspects might be a gang member.
