McHENRY – A Huntley man and former Centegra Hospital employee has been arrested in connection with a burglary of an ambulance and Centegra Hospital – McHenry, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department.

In December, the McHenry Police Department’s Investigative Bureau started investigating theft of a controlled substance from an ambulance parked outside of Centegra Hospital – McHenry, 4201 Medical Center Drive, police said.

McHenry Deputy Chief John Birk said the original investigation involved missing Fentanyl, a painkiller.

Joshua M. Agruss, 32, of 9745 Cummings St., Huntley, was arrested Friday, police said, after the investigation linked him to multiple burglaries occurring between Nov. 23 and 28.

Centegra spokeswoman Michelle Green said Agruss was an emergency department technician, and is no longer employed by Centegra.

Agruss was charged with one count of burglary for entering the building of Centegra Hospital – McHenry with intent to commit theft, one count of burglary to a motor vehicle for entering an ambulance while it was parked at the hospital with the intent to commit theft and one count of criminal trespass to a vehicle for entering an ambulance that belonged to the Wonder Lake Fire Protection District while it was parked at the hospital with intent to commit theft, police said.

His most serious charge is a Class 2 felony, which could result in three to seven years in prison.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or offender can call the McHenry Police Investigation Division at 815-363-2599, or leave an anonymous tip at 815-363-2124.
