Woodstock man killed in Route 20 crash near Huntley, McHenry County Sheriff's Office says

HUNTLEY – A 54-year-old Woodstock man was pronounced dead after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night in unincorporated Huntley, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said.

A preliminary investigation indicates that at 6:43 p.m. Wednesday, a 1999 Ford Expedition SUV was headed northbound on Route 20 at the same time a 2007 Hino 268 box truck was headed eastbound on Harmony Road. According to the sheriff’s office, the box truck did not stop at the intersection’s stop sign and collided with the Ford.

The driver of the Ford was transported by Huntley Fire Protection District to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Hino, a 24-year-old man, was also transported by fire officials to Sherman Hospital for precautionary reasons where he was treated and eventually released.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, there were no passengers in either vehicle.

The intersection where the crash happened remained closed for about five hours during the investigation.

The McHenry County Division of Transportation, McHenry County Conservation District, Huntley Police Department and Hampshire Police Department were called to the scene to assist.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigations Unit and the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
